Welcome to Bailey Mountain Welsh Terriers! My name is Ashley Mace and I came up with the idea to breed Welsh Terriers.

I am a Freshman at Mars Hill College located in Madison County North Carolina and I attend California Creek Baptist Church. I also work part-time at GameStop as a Game Advisor. My interests are Biology, Chemistry and Physics and I'm majoring in Biology. I have lots of interests including drawing, video games, chatting on internet but my passion has always been animals.

Although I originally came up with the idea for Bailey Mountain Terriers and love working with the puppies my schedule has gotten very full lately. To take some of the load off me I have asked my brother, Andrew, to take over much of the day-to-day care of the parent dogs. This allows me some much needed time and allows him to have a part in the business...and earn some of his own money!

Now, a little more about me. I have always loved all kinds of animals and have had many pets over the years. In addition to Welsh Terriers I currently have a dog, a cat, a goat and a horse. I have always wanted a pet snake but my dad says "if a snake moves in I will move out."

A few years ago Baby RabbitI cared for a baby rabbit. My dad ran into the rabbit nest while mowing the horse pasture and only one survived. I cared for him until he was old enough to release.

So now we are to the part of my story that deals with how Bailey Mountain Welsh Terriers was born. When I started High School I became involved with FFA (Future Farmers of America) which I think is great. Part of the FFA program is the Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Program. The SAE program allows me to design a program to gain hands-on experience and develop skills in agricultural career areas that interest me. The project will go on for my four years at Madison High School and even beyond. I wanted to do something that was challenging and fit in with my love for animals, especially dogs!

After a lot of negotiating with my parents (which was not easy) I convinced them to help me breed dogs.  I never thought they would agree to do it but they did!

My Mom and I spent many hours researching the breed of dog that we thought would be the best selection for me to work with. We decided on Welsh Terriers because of their disposition and size. My Dad is helping me with this web site and building a dog kennel. The kennel is made from our old chicken house which had to have lots of improvements (it was a hog pen before it was a chicken house! My budget is tight so we have to use whatever is available.)

I have had a blast breeding Welsh Terriers. It has allowed me see new puppies being born, grow and develop their individual personalities.

Because of BMWT I have been able to meet new friends, develop some good experience in a home business and, hopefully, increase the joy in the lives of others when they add one of our 'little friends' to their family.

Anyway, I hope you like this site. Please contact me if you want more information or are interested in Welsh Terriers. I will be happy to get back to you!

Thank you for joining me on this adventure! Welsh Terriers Rule!

Ashley
